Project Overview
Focusing on working collaboratively with peers, this studio concept was the merging of ideas to bring a new experience to Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines as a way to reach their more introverted guests. Deep diving into Royal Caribbean's brand, we identified a need for spaces that cater to a wider range of guests. Through collaborative brainstorming and concept development, our group focused on three main areas—Recharge, Read, and Rejuvenate—that support our overall concept, Royal Refuge. Developing an overarching theme connected through materiality and finishes, each member designed a space that incorporated our individual visions for interstitial spaces on Deck 5 of Royal Caribbean's Harmony of the Seas.
My personal development of the Rejuvenate area centered around creating a secluded space for individual guests and small groups to spend quiet time away from the excitement on board. Located just outside of the Vitality Spa entrance, this space sets the mood not only for spa guests, but for all passengers. Rejuvenate serves as an area to connect with your senses, transform the user's perspective, and immerse into biophilia all while creating a calming space that supports individual passenger needs.
